A collection of City Scapes

GOODBYE, SAM I took this image on my last day of work. I used to walk past this bridge every day and I think it’s such an elegant addition to the Dublin skyline.

THE SHARD Taken on a phone from the window seat of a Dublin to London City trip. I was unbelievably lucky to get this shot. The Shard still looks mammoth from this height and London Bridge railway station looks like a silver river.

THE SAMUEL BECKETT BRIDGE AT SUNRISE A phone shot taken in December 2018 when we were treated to a month of phenomenal sunrises perfectly timed for my morning commute.

BOLIVIAN STREET SCENE This was shot taken in Laz Paz on Christmas Day in 2006.

NAVY PIER IN WINTER This shot does not convey how cold Chicago is in Winter. The snow was falling quite heavily, there was thick ice on Lake Michigan and my hands were numb. I’m actually surpised that the shot wasn’t more blurred - however, the softness of the shot gives the image a nice painterly effect.

My Attempts at Capturing the Character of Cities

BASINGVIEW In February 2019, I was on a business trip to a client site. I took a British Midland International (BMI - remember the company?) flight to Southampton Airport from Dublin and then a train north to Basingstoke. I found this scene while wandering lost in a business park looking for my hotel.

The Green Line

THE GREEN LINE was taken on my mobile phone. I set the camera to take a very fast ‘long’ exposure to ensure that the movement of the Luas (the tram in Dublin) was caputured but the image wasn’t over exposed. I’m very happy with the result. The shot was taken at St Stephen’s Green Station.

104 Amiens Street

104 AMIENS STREET A local landmark on a particularly busy Dublin street.

Merrion Square

MERRION SQUARE Rain and city lights makes for a messy but colourful scene sitting in traffic. It was a bank holiday Friday in October although traffic in Dublin at 5:30 pm is always heavy.

Neighbourhood Watch

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH A scene from the Docklands in Dublin.

Fish & Chips

FISH ‘N CHIPS A scene from the South Bank, London - another rainy city scene where the colours splash all over the pavements.

WINETAVERN STREET I took this image on a mobile phone while taking a walk along the River Liffey during one lunch hour. The angle of the hil and the sun suggest that this was an early morning shot as it’s surprisingly quiet - it’s not a particularly busy part of Dublin but in the summer, you’ll find a lot of tourists around this area.
